Dried with geothermal energy

The Reykjanes Peninsula sits on one of Iceland’s geothermal areas. We use that heat to dry fish indoors, all year round.

Geothermal area on the Reykjanes Peninsula

From wooden racks to drying rooms

In the early years most of our fish was dried outside on wooden racks. Haustak has since led the way in drying fish indoors with geothermal energy.

It began with one container and hot air blown through it. We have extended the facilities year by year, and Haustak is now one of the largest fish drying plants in Iceland.
